How to get there...

the unconventional runway

the easy way - weather conditions permitting - fly:
with British Regional Airways (BRA) or Logan Air

"proper" airports in Stornoway and Balivanich,
cockle beach landing site on Barra (picture above),

Deterioration of the Barra beach has raised serious concerns of
BRA of not renewing the contract for the Barra service. In 1996
islanders rejected in a 290:217 vote the construction of a hard air
strip for which Objective One Funding would possibly have been

drive: to Oban, Uig or Ullapool, look out for a suitable boat...
